Snowed out in Cleveland

Area high school baseball and softball teams were able to get back on the field today…but the Cleveland Indians weren’t able to.
The Indians head for their new home away from home … Milwaukee’s Miller Field for three game series against the Anaheim Angels.
Complete coverage of the whole Indians mess can be found here on the Plain Dealer’s website.
You know I have gone to the Indians home opener for the past few years but I didn’t get tickets for this year’s opener and I’m glad I didn’t after seeing how much snow fell at Jacobs Field Friday through Monday.
But MLB commissioner Bud Selig, in consultation with the Indians and Angels, decided to move the Tribe’s next series to Milwaukee rather than face the possibility of more postponed games that will have to be made up.
I’m kind of torn on this whole issue.
This is the longest home stand of the season for the Indians and it’s being cut short by the trip to Milwaukee. But then again who knows when the Lake Effect Snow Machine is finally going to stop dumping the white stuff on Jacobs Field.
What will be even tougher is finding the days to make up the four games lost with the Mariners. The two teams supposedly have just one common off day.
Hopefully a pennant race won’t be decided by a doubleheader on the day after the regular season ends.

NOTEWORTHY:
BVC BASEBALL: A couple of surprises on the diamonds yesterday. Arcadia put together a big rally to knock off Leipsic and defending BVC co-champs Cory-Rawson rolled to an easy win over Liberty-Benton. That last game surprised me a little not so much that the Hornets won, but that they won so handily.
