Week 7 Notes

Up for tomorrow...observations on district golf and I have some dooseys. In the mean time here are the Week 7 football notes.

NOTABLE: Dave Hanneman is covering the game … Findlay has won two straight after opening the season with four straight losses … Harding senior running back Bryson Faggs gained 130 yards on 21 carries, his second straight 100-yard game and fourth of the season in last week’s win over Sandusky. He had 598 yards this season … Harding quarterback Phil Haddad has completed 60 of 130 passes for 727 yards, five touchdowns and five interceptions … Harding receiver Kevin Hardy ranks second in the GBC with 18 catches for 333 yards.. The Presidents also enter the game with a 2-game win streak … Findlay quarterback Chris Schneider (6-foot-3, 232) is 95 of 116 for 1,108 yards, tops in the GBC. NOTABLE: Seneca East snapped a 2-game losing skid with last week’s win over St. Wendelin … Carey had a 3-game win streak snapped with a loss to Hopewell-Loudon last week … Game at Cook Field … Last week: Carey couldn’t stop Hopewell-Loudon in the second half, allowing three touchdowns in a 35-6 loss. The Blue Devils managed 204 rushing yards against the Chieftains. Jake Mahl rushed for 85 yards and two touchdowns and threw for 173 yards in Seneca East’s 49-7, weather-delayed win at St. Wendelin .. Last year: Jake Mahl tossed a 55-yard score to Chris Allgyre on the second play from scrimmage, and Garrett Tusing scored on a 1-yard run to cap the Tigers’ next possession, as SE went to win, 26-3.

NOTABLE: Elmwood, the defending SLL co-champs, share the SLL lead with Otsego at 3-0 … Gibsonburg enters the game allowing 51.2 points per game … Elmwood has won 5 straight since a season opening loss to Hopewell-Loudon … Elmwood quarterback Dusty Brown moved closer to the 1,000-yard rushing mark by scoring on a 2-yard run in the first quarter and a 1-yard sneak in the fourth last week against Lakota. He rolled up 132 yards on 29 carries and now has 869 yards on the ground this season while also adding 83 yards on a 9-of-14 passing night with an interception.


Van Wert COUGARS at Ottawa-Glandorf TITANS

NOTABLE: Brian Recker piled up 228 yards rushing and scored a pair of touchdowns as Ottawa-Glandorf ran over Lima Bath 28-14 last week … The Titans punished the Wildcats by netting 367 yards rushing on 66 carries with John Kreinbrink also scoring twice. Overall, O-G rolled up 456 total yards, while holding Bath to 106 yards rushing and 136 passing … Van Wert has lost 5 straight since opening the season by beating Bryan.
