Cowher quits

Well it’s official. The Steelers are in the market for a new head coach.
It will be interesting to see what direction the Steelers go in now that Cowher has officially decided to retire.
And also what kind of impact it will have on Findlay’s favorite son Ben Roethlisberger. Play good defense and run the football has been the cornerstone of the club’s success in recent years. That’s how football games are won and lost and Cowher knew that.
Now that the Browns have started to purge some assistant coaches from the system. Now would be a good time to take a page from Pittsburgh’s notebook. If you can’t beat them, join them.
Anyway on a side note one of the coaches the Browns let go today was Carl Crennel, Romeo’s nephew. He was the offensive coach in charge of quality control.
Hmmm. Since there was no quality on offense for the Browns this season so to speak, why was he even needed? If there was ever a position to eliminate for the Browns…Carl Crennel’s job was it.
Have a great weekend!

Cowher didn't retire, he resigned. The Steelers have the right to him until 2008 season. I for one wouldn't mind seeing him in Browns' colors!!!

Why? You want to see the Browns lose more?
Look at the talent Cower had in his 15 years as a Steelers coach. Only one championship to show for it.

Since 1992, the year he took over the Steelers, no other team has more regular season wins. If anything, he would bring consistency to the franchise.

He won only one Super Bowl. Thats the stat that really counts. He wasted lots of talent.

There's a few more ways to measure success than how many Super Bowl rings you have. If you use that argument, then you don't think Dan Marino was a great quarterback.

Dan marino was a single person who could not control th ewhole team. Cower was in control of whole team, a team over the years filled with alot of talent. Talent he wasted because he was an average coach who won only one super bowl. Great coaches get great results with average to great players. Cower got average results from great players.

Put it this way, I would take Cowher over any of the duds that Cleveland seems to land year after year. So while this "average" coach was having success for the past 15 seasons, Cleveland has always been a disappointment.
